Ansel Adams

I chose this picture because it has really good contrast between the sky and clouds and also, the snow and the trees. The shadows on the clouds make them look really puffy. Since the snow and the clouds are already white, there wouldn't be very much color anyway, so this picture looks good in black and white.

What was his education before attending private school?.........

Ansel Adams had problems fitting in at school. He wasn't very successful in many schools, so his father and his aunt tutored him, before he went to Mrs. Kate M. Wilkins private school.

Talk about his other profession beside being a photographer........

His other profession was playing the piano. He taught himself to play the piano and read music when he was twelve. After about twelve years, he decided to give up piano for photography.

When was his first fully visualized photograph, monolith, the Face of Half Dome created?.......

The Face of Half Dome was created in 1927.

Three other facts that have not been mentioned already.......

1. In 1935, Making a Photograph, was his first widely distributed book.
2. Ansel broke his nose during the earthquake in San Fransisco in 1906.
3. He hiked and explored the forests around San Fransisco almost everyday.
He also spent a lot of his time at Yosemite National Park.

Panorama

I like how this photo is mostly dark, but the bridges and city are lit up and stand out. I also like the reflection on the water.

I like how this photo has a lot of depth where the sidewalks are.
